SUMMARY:Dane County Board: a BECI resolution on the agenda (2026 RES-130)
DESCRIPTION:A resolution on the BECI transmission project is on the Dane County Board’s agenda. The Dane County Board of Supervisors meets on Thursday\, September 10 at 7:00 pm. Item 5 is 2026 RES-130\, “Urging Midcontinent Grid Solutions and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to Provide Additional Review and Opportunities for Public Input on the Bell Center-Columbia-Sugar Creek-IL/WI State Line 765 kV Transmission Project.” The Board is scheduled to take it up; the agenda records the resolution as pending Executive Committee action the same day. \nWhat the resolution asks. It notes that BECI has not yet been submitted to the Public Service Commission\, and asks that when it is\, the Commission delay consideration until further research\, analysis and public review are complete. It then sets out twelve requests\, among them an independent analysis of whether the project is needed for Wisconsin\, a full accounting of cost to Wisconsin ratepayers\, a comprehensive environmental assessment comparing routes\, an evaluation of routing alternatives against the corridor priorities in Wis. Stat. § 1.12(6)\, a farmland-preservation analysis\, a comparison of overhead and underground construction\, property-specific information to affected landowners at least 30 days before any formal PSC proceeding\, and a schedule of further engagement sessions. It is sponsored by Supervisors Brandmeier\, Marren\, Lewis\, Miles and Doolan. \nHow to attend. This is a hybrid meeting. You can attend in person at the City-County Building\, Room 201\, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd\, Madison\, or join by Zoom or telephone. To speak\, or to register support or opposition on an agenda item\, register at board.danecounty.gov/attendmeeting. Virtual registrations close 30 minutes before the meeting begins; in-person paper registration is accepted throughout. You can also watch without registering. \nBackground. BECI is a proposed 765 kV transmission line of roughly 190 miles running from Crawford County east across southern Wisconsin to the Illinois state line\, developed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions\, a joint venture of Transource Energy and BHE Transmission. Dane County is inside the study area the developer has published. No route has been chosen and no application has been filed; the developer’s published schedule points to an application to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in early 2027. The developer’s announced comment window on its 78 study segments closed September 7\, 2026\, and the company is still accepting written comments. See what this means locally on our Dane County page. \nFour Dane County town boards have already adopted resolutions on BECI. See which towns\, villages\, cities and counties have acted on our Resolution Tracker. \nDate\, time\, location\, agenda item and sponsors as published on the Dane County Board’s meeting agenda (checked September 9\, 2026). This is Dane County’s meeting\, not a No 765 Line event; confirm details on the county’s site before attending.

SUMMARY:BECI open house — Rock County (hosted by the developer)
DESCRIPTION:This is the developer’s event\, not ours. Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS)\, the company developing the BECI 765 kV project\, is hosting eight open houses the week of August 24 to show study-segment maps and collect routing input. It is not a Public Service Commission hearing — the state process has not begun. We’re listing it because people in the study area should know it is happening. \nWhat to expect. No formal presentation. Come and go any time during the window. Maps are on tables and staff are there to answer questions. This is the last of the eight sessions; the same information is offered at every location. \nBefore you go. Download the Rock County map book from the developer’s project page and find your ground — the books are aerial maps\, printable at 11×17. Bring a printed page and your parcel number. \nOne question worth asking. Where a study segment near you crosses open ground\, ask which existing transmission corridor was evaluated there and on what basis it was set aside. Wisconsin’s siting statute\, Wis. Stat. § 1.12(6)\, lists existing utility corridors first in the order of priority for routing new transmission. Write down the answer and who gave it. \nComment in writing too. A conversation at a table is not a filed comment. MGS is requesting feedback on the study segments by September 7\, 2026\, through the comment tool on its project page or at Connect@MGSWisconsin.com. Name your county and the segment you’re looking at. \nSigning. Nothing offered at an open house needs to be signed there. We describe options landowners have used; we don’t give legal advice. For anything touching easements\, land rights\, or property access\, consult your own attorney. \nTell us what you saw: email info@no765line.org. One person’s account is an anecdote; eight counties’ worth is a record. \nDate\, time and location as published by the developer at mgs-projects.com/BECI (checked August 4\, 2026). Confirm on their page before travelling.

SUMMARY:Richland County community meeting: Richland Center
DESCRIPTION:A community meeting to unite Richland County. Concerned about the proposed 765 kV high-voltage line? Neighbors are gathering at the Richland Center City Auditorium (the Performing Arts Center downtown) to discuss and strategize. Richland County residents and interested people are all welcome. On the agenda: review the information from the developer’s Monday\, August 24 open house; introduce those involved in opposing the 765 kV line; strategize next steps; and decide on action to take following the meeting. \nEven if you can’t make the open house on the 24th\, come Wednesday. The developer’s open house (Monday\, August 24\, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Richland Center High School) is the company’s event; Wednesday evening is the community’s. Staying connected locally matters either way. \nBackground. BECI is a proposed 765 kV transmission line of roughly 190 miles running from Crawford County east across southern Wisconsin to the Illinois state line\, developed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions\, a joint venture of Transource Energy and BHE Transmission (Berkshire Hathaway). Richland County is inside the study area the developer has published\, and public comments on its 78 candidate study segments are open until September 7\, 2026. \nYou can also find and share this meeting on Facebook. \nVolunteer for this event: email info@no765line.org.

SUMMARY:BECI open house — Dane & Dodge Counties (hosted by the developer)
DESCRIPTION:This is the developer’s event\, not ours. Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS)\, the company developing the BECI 765 kV project\, is hosting eight open houses the week of August 24 to show study-segment maps and collect routing input. It is not a Public Service Commission hearing — the state process has not begun. We’re listing it because people in the study area should know it is happening. \nWhat to expect. No formal presentation. Come and go any time during the window. Maps are on tables and staff are there to answer questions. This session covers both Dane and Dodge counties; the same information is offered at every location\, so you may attend whichever is convenient. \nBefore you go. Download the Dane County or Dodge County map book from the developer’s project page and find your ground — the books are aerial maps\, printable at 11×17.

SUMMARY:Sauk County - Baraboo No765Line Presentation & Informational Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A community meeting for the Baraboo area. Neighbors in Sauk County are gathering to talk about the proposed BECI 765 kV transmission line: where the project stands\, what to expect next\, and how to get involved. Everyone is welcome; bring your questions and a friend. The meeting is in the Topham Family Foundation Auditorium at the Baraboo public library. Sauk County is one of nine counties inside the study area the developer has published. The developer has said it expects to apply to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in early 2027. \nTo ensure a seat\, come early. Doors open at 5pm. \nMark your calendar twice. The developer also holds a Sauk County open house on Tuesday\, August 25\, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at UW-Platteville Baraboo (Lange Center\, 1006 Connie Rd). Coming to the August 20 meeting first is a good way to arrive at the open house informed. \nYou can also find and share this meeting on Facebook. \n
