Walk the line.

The developer’s map is a set of thin lines across 140 miles. Scroll to see the country they cross — the same cold-water streams and karst, nearly the whole way. The routes shown are the MariBell project’s primary and alternate routes — proposed and not yet finalized. The BECI continuation, running east and south to the Illinois line, still has no route — its developer, Midcontinent Grid Solutions, has published a nine-county study area and, as of July 2026, 78 candidate study segments (drawn on the map) — but no selected route. Its four named connection points: Bell Center, the Columbia substation near Portage, the Sugar Creek substation near Elkhorn, and a state-line crossing in Rock County. The Hillsboro area, named in the developers’ January announcement, appears in none of the developer’s published maps.
