Southern Wisconsin’s land is the asset we’re all built on — the working farms, trout streams, bluff country, lakes, and main-street storefronts that bring people through every door from the Mississippi to the Illinois line. The businesses, organizations, and nonprofits on this page have gone on the record about the two transmission lines proposed across it: publicly, simply, and at no cost.

Two 765,000-volt (765 kV) transmission lines — one called MariBell, one called BECI — have been proposed across southern Wisconsin, on steel towers 150 to 200 feet tall. No routes are final and no applications have been filed yet, but the corridors under study run through the counties where we all live, work, and do business. Wisconsin ratepayers — every household, farm, business, and organization that pays an electric bill — would help pay for the multi-billion-dollar build, and the lines are not designed to deliver power to our communities.
