Privacy policy
Your information, our promises.
We collect as little as we need, we never sell it, and we use it only to do the work you signed up to support. Here’s exactly what that means.
Draft, pending legal review. This policy describes our current practices in plain language. It is being reviewed by counsel and reconciled with Wisconsin’s charitable-solicitation rules before it becomes final.
Who this covers
This policy applies to no765line.org, operated by No 765 Line, Inc., a Wisconsin 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It explains what we collect when you use the site, sign up for updates, donate, or contact us.
What we collect
- When you join our email list: your name and email address, through our email provider (MailerLite). When you sign up through the site’s email form, you confirm your subscription by email (double opt-in) before we send anything. If you join another way — on a paper form at an event, or by checking the updates box on one of our forms — we add you based on that explicit request, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- When you donate or order yard signs: our donation processor (Givebutter, with payment processors such as Stripe) collects the information needed to process your payment — name, email, billing details, and amount. We receive your name, email, amount and date, and, for yard-sign orders, your sign choices and pickup-area answer so we can get your signs to you; we do not see or store your full card number.
- When you use a form (contact, landowner support, business sign-on, or the artwork download): the information you enter — which may include name, email, phone, mailing address, and your message. Our forms run on Gravity Forms, on our own WordPress site. Submissions are delivered privately to the campaign. One deliberate exception: the business sign-on exists to build a public roster — if we accept your endorsement, we publish your business or organization’s name, town, and county on our businesses page; your contact details stay private. Every other form submission is never posted.
- When you download our artwork pack: your name, email, mailing address, and phone, plus a record of the artwork-terms version you agreed to and when. We keep that record while your permission to use the artwork is in effect.
- Site analytics: we use Plausible, a privacy-respecting analytics tool that is cookieless and collects only aggregate, anonymous data (such as page views and referring sites). It does not track you across other websites and does not build a profile of you.
How we use it
To send the updates you asked for, process and acknowledge donations, respond to your messages, support landowners and communities along the corridor, coordinate the sign network, keep the records this policy describes (like artwork-terms agreements), and understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site. Nothing beyond what this policy describes.
How it’s shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only with the service providers that make this work — our website host (Hostinger, which also runs our email), our forms (Gravity Forms, on our own WordPress site), our email provider (MailerLite), our donation processor (Givebutter, with Stripe), our analytics (Plausible), and the Google Workspace tools where we keep the campaign’s contact records — and only so they can perform those functions, under their own privacy terms. Inside the campaign, trained volunteer coordinators see only the details needed to coordinate with you in their area — for example, who nearby ordered signs or is printing them — never the campaign’s full contact record, giving history, or notes. We may disclose information if required by law.
Cookies & tracking
The site itself does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics (Plausible) uses none. Some embedded tools — the donation widget, the email form, and interactive maps (hosted for us on Netlify; the map’s address-search box sends only the address you type to a geocoding service so it can be placed on the map) — are provided by third parties and may set their own cookies when you use them; those are governed by the providers’ policies.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from emails any time using the link at the bottom of every message.
- Access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you — just ask at info@no765line.org.
A note for landowners
If you contact us about your land, we keep what you share private and we don’t discuss specific legal situations over email. For advice about your own situation, please consult your own attorney. See the Landowner guide.
Security & retention
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and we rely on our service providers’ security measures to protect it. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard what you share.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the campaign and its tools evolve. The effective date below will change when we do.
