Spend an evening exploring the Driftless Area of southern Wisconsin: what makes it special, the local organizations that are part of it, and what the two proposed 765,000-volt transmission lines, MariBell and BECI, could mean for it.

  • 5 p.m.: open house with tables from local organizations, in the River Arts Center entrance:
    • Ferry Bluff Eagle Council
    • Friends of the Lower Wisconsin Riverway
    • National Wild Turkey Federation
    • No 765 Line
    • Pheasants Forever
    • Ranch and Root
    • Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance
    • Wisconsin Mussels
    • Wisconsin Waterfowl Association
  • 6 p.m.: Mysteries of the Driftless, a 27-minute documentary by Mississippi Valley Conservancy and Untamed Science and a 2014 Chicago/Midwest Emmy winner, then a panel discussion on our human and natural communities, with:
    • Curt Meine, conservation biologist, environmental historian and writer
    • Jeff Wright, president-elect, Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce
    • Marty Moses, state conservation coordinator, Pheasants Forever
  • 7:30 p.m.: an update from No 765 Line on the two projects and what you can do, with time for questions.

More tables and panelists to be announced.

The open house at 5 p.m. is open to everyone. Leola Hall seats about 200 for the film and panel. Leola Hall opens at 5:30 p.m. for people who registered, with check-in at the hall door. At 5:45, we open the venue up to people who did not register.

Park in the school bus lot on Oak Street, in any high school lot (enter at 9th Street and Ray Street), or legally on nearby streets. The hall entrance is step-free. Leola Hall’s five wheelchair spaces are all in the front row, and every other row has steps, with railings.

We provide popcorn. You may bring a drink with a secure lid. Donations to No 765 Line are welcome at the door. We may take photos at the event for our website and social media. If you’d rather not be in them, tell the photographer.

Hosted by No 765 Line, Inc., and our Sauk County and Baraboo-area volunteers.
