BECI open house — Columbia County (hosted by the developer)

This is the developer’s event, not ours. Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS), the company developing the BECI 765 kV project, is hosting eight open houses the week of August 24 to show study-segment maps and collect routing input. It is not a Public Service Commission hearing — the state process has not begun. We’re listing it because people in the study area should know it is happening.

What to expect. No formal presentation. Come and go any time during the window. Maps are on tables and staff are there to answer questions. The same information is offered at every location, so you may attend whichever is convenient.

Before you go. Download the Columbia County map book from the developer’s project page and find your ground — the books are aerial maps, printable at 11×17. Bring a printed page and your parcel number.

One question worth asking. Where a study segment near you crosses open ground, ask which existing transmission corridor was evaluated there and on what basis it was set aside. Wisconsin’s siting statute, Wis. Stat. § 1.12(6), lists existing utility corridors first in the order of priority for routing new transmission. Write down the answer and who gave it.

Comment in writing too. A conversation at a table is not a filed comment. MGS is requesting feedback on the study segments by September 7, 2026, through the comment tool on its project page or at Connect@MGSWisconsin.com. Name your county and the segment you’re looking at.

Signing. Nothing offered at an open house needs to be signed there. We describe options landowners have used; we don’t give legal advice. For anything touching easements, land rights, or property access, consult your own attorney.
