Sauk County – Baraboo No765Line Presentation & Informational Meeting

August 20 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

A community meeting for the Baraboo area. Neighbors in Sauk County are gathering to talk about the proposed BECI 765 kV transmission line: where the project stands, what to expect next, and how to get involved. Everyone is welcome; bring your questions and a friend. The meeting is in the Topham Family Foundation Auditorium at the Baraboo public library.

Background. BECI is a proposed 765 kV transmission line of roughly 190 miles running from Crawford County east across southern Wisconsin to the Illinois state line, developed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions, a joint venture of Transource Energy and BHE Transmission (Berkshire Hathaway). Sauk County is one of nine counties inside the study area the developer has published. The developer has said it expects to apply to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in early 2027.

Mark your calendar twice. The developer also holds a Sauk County open house on Tuesday, August 25, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at UW-Platteville Baraboo (Lange Center, 1006 Connie Rd). Coming to the August 20 meeting first is a good way to arrive at the open house informed.
