About No 765 Line.
A Wisconsin 501(c)(3) nonprofit and citizen coalition. We equip communities across southern Wisconsin to take part in the energy decisions being made about their land, their rates, and their future, starting with the two proposed 765 kV transmission lines, MariBell and BECI, and the case against building them.
Mission and vision
To be leaders in equipping Wisconsin communities to take part in the energy decisions being made about their land, their rates, and their future. We turn local concern into informed, sourced, effective participation in the venues where those decisions are actually made, with regard to the two 765 kV transmission line projects proposed across southern Wisconsin.
An energy future that serves Wisconsin without sacrificing it: power built only when it is honestly needed, paid for fairly, and decided in the open with the people who live in its path; and a Wisconsin whose farms, waters, and communities pass to the next generation intact.
Who we are
No 765 Line, Inc. is a Wisconsin 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We turn regional concern about the two proposed 765 kV lines — MariBell and BECI — into sourced, coordinated action — across the Public Service Commission proceeding, the state legislature, and local government.
How we work
We keep every public claim defensible and sourced, and we keep the municipal, regulatory, and legislative lanes clearly separated — so each action is aimed at the venue that can actually act on it. Credibility is the campaign’s most valuable asset, and we protect it deliberately.
The board
No 765 Line is governed by a volunteer board of southern Wisconsin residents. We’re adding each member’s name, photo, and a short bio here as they sign off — on a public campaign, we don’t publish anyone without their consent.

Michael Browne is the campaign’s treasurer and media lead, and he built the website, maps, and publications it runs on. He spent two decades building consumer brands — Trek Bicycle, Specialized, Bird — before founding Rise Above Partners, a strategic advisory in Viroqua. He lives in Vernon County, in the heart of the Driftless.
Rob Danielson has studied utility transmission planning and non-transmission alternatives since 2010, when the Badger–Coulee 345 kV line was proposed to pass near his property and the Kickapoo Valley Reserve in the Town of Stark, Vernon County. He leads the campaign’s regulatory and subject-matter work.
Emile Smith has spent 30 years building Sebastian’s Specialty Hardwoods into a nationwide business — reclaiming industrial timbers, designing and building spaces, and crafting specialty wood floors and furniture. Trout fishing first drew him to the Driftless; he bought a farm and built his own home overlooking the South Copper Creek valley, a view now at stake. His background spans music, mechanical engineering, sailboat racing, and growing food.
