Richland County community meeting: Richland Center
A community meeting to unite Richland County. Concerned about the proposed 765 kV high-voltage line? Neighbors are gathering at the Richland Center City Auditorium (the Performing Arts Center downtown) to discuss and strategize. Richland County residents and interested people are all welcome. On the agenda: review the information from the developer’s Monday, August 24 open house; introduce those involved in opposing the 765 kV line; strategize next steps; and decide on action to take following the meeting.
Even if you can’t make the open house on the 24th, come Wednesday. The developer’s open house (Monday, August 24, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Richland Center High School) is the company’s event; Wednesday evening is the community’s. Staying connected locally matters either way.
Background. BECI is a proposed 765 kV transmission line of roughly 190 miles running from Crawford County east across southern Wisconsin to the Illinois state line, developed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions, a joint venture of Transource Energy and BHE Transmission (Berkshire Hathaway). Richland County is inside the study area the developer has published, and public comments on its 78 candidate study segments are open until September 7, 2026.
